Dr. David Dolan was raised in Houston through elementary school and then moved to New York City so that his mother could get a PhD at Columbia University. During that time he read All Creatures Great and Small by James Herriot and at that point decided that he wanted to be a veterinarian. He set that goal in 7th grade and followed that path straight through vet school. On the way, he went to a private boarding school in upstate New York that had a private zoo! He took care of a pair of baby Stump-tailed Macaques, a Red-tailed Hawk that was caught in a pole trap and had to have his leg amputated, and bought a Mexican Red Headed Parrot named Mike.
Dr. Dolan attended Texas A&M University, where he earned bachelor's degrees in Biology and Animal Science and then was accepted to and graduated from the Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1987. He practiced in The Woodlands for a short time and then moved to Carrollton and finally back to the Houston/Spring area in 1988. He has been working at Companion Animal Hospital since 1993. Dr. Dolan enjoys general veterinary practice and especially working with his clients.
During his free time, Dr. Dolan enjoys playing golf, birdwatching, and kayaking. He especially looks forward to his annual venture to Colorado for golf and the changing of the Aspen leaves in the fall. He has become an avid birdwatcher and spends his free time watching and photographing birds.
