Born in Rome, New York, Dr. Nathan Boynton pleads “innocent” to the
charge of being a Yankee! His father, an officer in the
United States Air Force was transferred to an air force base in San
Antonio when Nathan was four so Dr. Boynton claims Texas as his
home.
Dr. Boynton grew up in San Antonio with two brothers and two
sisters. During his
high school years, his parents purchased land south of San Antonio
and raised cattle, which sparked his interest in veterinary
medicine. At that
time, Dr. Boynton worked at several veterinary practices, and his
experiences at these clinics solidified his decision to pursue a
career in veterinary medicine.
After graduation from high school, Dr. Boynton attended a small
college in Sioux Center, Iowa where he received a degree in Animal
Science. During his
time at Dordt College, he gained further insight into the diverse
field of veterinary medicine while working with two swine
veterinarians. Dr.
Boynton was accepted to the Iowa State College of Veterinary
Medicine after only three years of undergraduate work, but declined
admission because of his strong desire to finish his undergraduate
degree and to attend Texas A& M University. The following year he completed
his bachelor’s degree in Animal Science and was accepted to the
Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine.
During his first year as a veterinary student, he met his future
wife, Missy Burchfield, at church. Missy began Vet school the next
year, and they fell in love over coffee and Pharmacology
notes. On August
17th, 2002, during his fourth year of veterinary
college, Nathan and Missy were married in her home church in
Houston.
After receiving his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2003 he
enjoyed working for two years as a Mixed Animal Practitioner at the
Caldwell Veterinary Clinic. In May of 2005, Drs. Nathan and
Missy Boynton moved to the northwest Houston area, where he was
privileged to join the team at Companion Animal Hospital as an
associate veterinarian.
